Loudoun County Public Schools is Hiring a Supervisor, Payroll Near Ashburn, VA

Position Overview

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the bi-weekly payroll process. This includes time and attendance, payroll processing, costing, reconciling, state and federal reporting, W-2 processing, Workers Compensation and Short-Term Disability payment process, payroll budget, retirement payment and reconciliation, payroll liability reconciliation, and communication of payroll law changes. This position will work closely with all departmental budget holders.

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate:

  • Directs the Payroll operations of the School District; supervises the preparation of all payroll financial and statistical reports for the management of the payroll system; reviews the bi-weekly payroll reports; approves all communications related to payroll matters; develops and monitors the budget for Payroll Services.
  • Coordinates the annual Workers' Compensation and Social Security audits; performs a monthly reconciliation of all payroll liability accounts.
  • Conducts workshops relating to payroll reports and procedures for appropriate school staff.
  • Oversee and analyze the bi-weekly payroll process in its entirety including costing to the General Ledger, projects year end balances; advises, consults, and communicates with program managers on payroll issues.
  • Interprets and implements the Internal Revenue Service laws and regulations as related to payroll; interprets and implements the Fair Labor Standards Act for the School District.
  • Coordinates with the Department of Human Resources and Talent Development for any changes in employees' status; liaises with all departments as it relates to the processing of time and pay.

Qualifications

Below are the qualifications for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, CPP preferred
  • Five years of experience in maintaining an ERP system such as Oracle; public sector experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of applications ancillary to the ERP such as common office productivity software suites like Microsoft Office
  • Possesses strong knowledge of the security and best practices related to the maintenance and support of an ERP system
  • Ability to effectively deliver and communicate information in a variety of settings and to diverse audiences, throughout all levels of an organization

Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Months/Days/Hours: 12 months, 248 days, 8 hours per day

Reports to: Director, Financial Services

Telework Eligible: Partial

Salary Range: $104,445 - $166,442 per year
